Our Clergy

  • Fr Yuri Hladio

    Rector - Priest-in-Charge

    Fr Yuri was ordained a Presbyter on August 17, 2019, by His Eminence Archbishop Irénée and was officially assigned to our community in May 2020. In addition to his pastoral duties he serves as a military chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserves, ministering to service members with spiritual care and support. Fr Yuri is joined in ministry by his wife, Nikyla, who serves as the music director of St. Maria’s. They were married in 2014 and, together by God’s grace, have started a family and are working to make their little corner of existence into paradise.

  • Dcn Sean Reid

    Deacon

    Deacon Sean was ordained on January 6, 2018 by his Eminence Archbishop Irénée and was officially assigned to our community in May 2020. In his secular work, he serves as an executive with a Toronto-based construction technology company.  A certified professional coach, Deacon Sean is also the President and Head Coach at Arrowhead Coaching and Facilitation Solutions and serves as a Parish Health Coach with the Orthodox Christian Leadership Initiative. He is married to Matushka Juliana, and is the father of two.

  • Dan Opperwall

    President

    Dr Daniel Opperwall is an Orthodox Christian author, teacher, scholar, father and husband. With a broad spectrum of tastes and interests, Dan’s work ranges from academic studies in Church history and patristics (in which he holds his PhD) to critical essays, sci-fi and fantasy, literary fiction, poetry, and children's books. Dan teaches theology and Church history at the Orthodox School of Theology at Trinity College, University of Toronto.

  • Mt Juliana Reid

    Secretary

    Matushka Juliana and her husband Deacon Sean, along with their two teenage daughters, were received into the Orthodox Church in 2010. Her main occupations in recent years have been caring for her family and homeschooling her girls. In her free time she enjoys sewing, singing, reading, listening to audiobooks with her daughters, and going for walks with her husband.
