Archbishop of Ottawa and the Archdiocese of Canada (OCA)

Vladyka Irénée is our beloved Archbishop under whose archpastoral guidance and blessing we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist. He is the Archbishop of the Canadian Archdiocese of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). It is through his prayers that we are given the freedom to continue to grow more firm in our Christian faith.

Fr Yuri Hladio

Fr Yuri was ordained a Presbyter on August 17, 2019 by his Eminence Archbishop Irénée and was officially assigned to our community in May 2020. Fr Yuri is joined in ministry by his wife Nikyla who serves as the music director of St Maria’s. They were married in 2014 and together they work to make their little corner of existence into paradise. So far it’s working pretty well.

Fr Dcn Sean Reid

Deacon Sean was ordained on January 6, 2018 by his Eminence Archbishop Irénée and was officially assigned to our community in May 2020. In his secular work, he serves as an executive with a Toronto-based construction technology company.  A certified professional coach, Deacon Sean is also the President and Head Coach at Arrowhead Coaching and Facilitation Solutions and serves as a Parish Health Coach with the Orthodox Christian Leadership Initiative. He is married to Matushka Juliana, and is the father of two teenage girls.

Dan Opperwall

Our Warden

Dr Daniel Opperwall is an Orthodox Christian author, teacher, scholar, father and husband. With a broad spectrum of tastes and interests, Dan’s work ranges from academic studies in Church history and patristics (in which he holds his PhD) to critical essays, sci-fi and fantasy, literary fiction, poetry, and children's books. Dan teaches theology and Church history at the Orthodox School of Theology at Trinity College, University of Toronto.

Justin Andrews

Our Vice-Warden

Justin spends his time writing and reading. During rare moments of liveliness, he bikes, cooks, and plays with his cats, Beowulf and Mitya.

Marina Perry

Our Treasurer

Marina Perry was received into the Orthodox Church many decades ago at The Sign of the Theotokos Orthodox Church in Montreal. She enjoys a retired life in Oakville, Ontario. Along with being well travelled she walks across Europe from the comfort of her own city - the joys of modern phone apps!

Matushka Juliana Reid

Our Secretary

Matushka Juliana and her husband Deacon Sean, along with their two teenage daughters, were received into the Orthodox Church in 2010. Her main occupations in recent years have been caring for her family and homeschooling her girls. In her free time she enjoys sewing, singing, reading, listening to audiobooks with her daughters, and going for walks with her husband.
